The L.A.C.E.R. Afterschool Programs provide free classes in the arts, athletics, and academics every day, after school, to almost 1,000 students a day, grades 6th-12th. L.A.C.E.R. is creating opportunities, building academic skills, and preparing students for their future.

DRIVERS ED AT LACER:

The L.A.C.E.R. Program offers a fall and spring afterschool driver’s ed course for GALA high school students age 15.5 and older. Students who complete the course will receive a DL400B certificate, which allows minors to take the written exam for a provisional permit. Spring Drivers Ed is underway and if you would like to participate next year stay tuned for fall dates and registration forms by checking this website or email GHS@lacerstars.org with any questions you may have!

BEHIND THE WHEEL AT LACER:

EXCITING NEWS! If your student attended the fall session of LACER Driver’s Ed Course, they may qualify for a completely free behind-the-wheel training with LACER this spring. We are offering an all-expense covered Behind the Wheel course consisting of two 3-hour Saturday sessions during the month of April and May. This course fulfills the necessary 6 hours behind a wheel with an instructor that is required by the DMV to attain a license.

To qualify, students must be at least 15.5 years of age and must have successfully completed LACER's Drivers Ed last semester, receiving a blue slip from Bloomtech AND have received a permit from the DMV.

If your student has met the above requirements and is interested in this opportunity, please email a completed application form to GHS@lacerstars.org and a copy of the student’s blue slip and permit. If you are do not have access to a scanner your Gala student can bring in the forms to the LACER office space in the MPR and we can scan them, but we require copies of both in order to register students for this opportunity.

There are six spots available, all on Saturdays, Session One is April 18th & 25th, and Session Two is May 2nd & May 9th. The slots will be given to students on a first-come-first-served basis so please turn in necessary documentation as soon as possible to confirm your position. To register, students must commit to two three-hour sessions on consecutive Saturdays to complete the 6 total hours.

Students will meet with the instructor LACER’s Hollywood Office, located at 1277 N Wilcox Ave.
